The Region
In Turkish, the word Yeni means new, so this village
is the New Erenkoy. With its narrow winding streets dotted with coffee shops
and markets Yeni erenkoy is a pleasant rambling village, with a small tourist
office open in the summer months. The village is set on the Kapaz Peninsula,
otherwise known as the panhandle of Cyprus. Here you will find the best beaches
not only on Cyprus, but in the entire Mediterranean! Some of them go on for miles
and miles and you are more likely to bump into a donkey than a human being.
This area is also home to the very famous Karpaz Gate Marina, which berths upto
320 yachts, and is well known for its up market beach club and restaurants. If
you are looking for something a bit quieter, and enjoy nature, then this area
really is worth exploring.
